Fireworks on the Beach

Fireworks on the beach?

Happy Independence Day!

For those of you who live in the US, Happy 4th of July! How are you spending your day? We started the morning with a cute red, white, and blue neighborhood parade. Kids, grown-ups, dogs, local fire trucks, even a horse took a tour around our large block on all modes of decked-out mini transportation! It was so much fun. Everyone ended the parade at the end of our street with a pancake breakfast under umbrellas and pop-ups. We had a watermelon-eating contest, a watermelon seed-spitting contest, and lots of laughter.

We are not allowed to light fireworks here in our part of California (you know – we’re very fire wary!) But I know many people are enjoying a fireworks display tonight, and I couldn’t help but make a card that shows off the sparkly celebration somewhere along the beach. That sounds safe enough, right?

Would you love to be sitting in one of those beach chairs, drink in hand, watching the show?! I would!

  • Basic White Cardstock, 5-1/4″x 4″
    • With a Blending Brush, create an evening sky with Night of Navy ink.

    • Crop with Beach Day Dies for water and glue it.
  • Basic Beige Cardstock, 5-1/4″x 1-1/2″

  • Stamp the umbrella and chairs (one with reverse stamping) with Memento Ink and color them with Blends. Crop with coordinating dies and glue to the card front.
  • Last, stamp “Let’s Celebrate!” with Memento ink onto Basic White, cut to a narrow strip and glue to the bottom center.
  • Add some tiny rhinestones for extra sparkle, if desired!

  1. That is an awesome 4th of July card Karen! One of the best I’ve seen. We watched fireworks at Lake Tahoe years ago and it brought back great memories!

  2. Love your card and story of how your block celebration takes place! Much needed everywhere. Some places people don’t even know their neighbors! What is reverse stamping?

    • Thanks, Vickie! Yes, it’s a great neighborhood and I feel blessed to be a part of it! Reverse stamping is a technique that you can do with any stamp and a stamp positioning tool such as our old Stamparatus or a Misti and a Silicone Craft Sheet. Perhaps I’ll do a blog post on it, if you’re interested!

  3. I love your card. So festive

    • It was a lot of fun. Everyone pitches in to help prepare for an awesome breakfast and the parade was one of the best we’ve had (I think a lot of younger families are moving in – lots of happy energy!) Thanks, Rosanne!

  5. I really love your Fireworks card, Karen!
