Welcome to the Pals April 2018 Blog Hop. Join us while we put “Families First” in our hop this month. The Stampin’ Pretty Pals will inspire you with family related projects like Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Graduation or Family Vacations. You may be just starting or hopped over from another Pal. In either case you’ll find the line-up toward the end of my post to help you move along.
For my cards today, I’ve chosen Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. I’ve used Apron of Love for both cards. I had fun putting these together. First, the Mother’s Day ~
Both my mother and my mother-in-law were amazing bakers, so I’ve made this card in their memory. I can almost taste their pies!
I used Sweet Soiree Specialty DSP for Mom’s apron. The Flirty Flamingo print is the back of the Marina Mist/Silver Foil print, which I used for her pocket. All of the pieces were cut out using the Apron Builders Framelit Dies. The sentiments are from the Apron of Love photopolymer stamp set. I layered two colors together for some of the utensils and the rolling pin. Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets were definitely my “friend” on these projects!
On the inside, I stamped the sentiment from Lovely Wishes and added a 1/2″ strip of the Specialty DSP on the bottom.
The beautiful lacy edges on the card are Silver Foil Sheets, cut with the Flourish Thinlits Die. I thought it added a touch of feminine flair!
I couldn’t make one for Mom and not make another for Dad! So here is the Father’s Day version ~
The plaid in True Gentleman DSP says “masculine awesome” to me! I love the color combination of Night of Navy, Tranquil Tide, and Crushed Curry. Because of the Curry, I chose Gold Foil Sheets for this one instead of the silver I used on Mom’s. Again, I pieced black on the utensils to make them look like the utensils in my drawer, and added an oven mitt. Not sure that my husband has ever actually used an oven mitt, but if I were BBQing, I would use one! and I thought it was cute!
For both cards, I popped the pockets up on Dimensionals and tucked the utensils inside.
The Happy Father’s Day sentiment is from Guy Greetings, and the 1/2″ DSP strip at the bottom matches the pocket on the front.
Apron of Love and the Apron Builders Framelits are bundled together at a 10% discount until May 31st. When the new catalog comes out in June, you will still see both items for sale, but not at the discounted bundle price. It’s a fun set that can be used for both men and women, switched around to fit your own personal activities, and there are pieces for crafters in it as well! So cute! I’ll have it listed in the Product List at the bottom of this post, so you can click it and see all the fun elements.
