This week we have a sketch challenge at Create With Connie & Mary. I went back to one of my favorite bundles in the Annual Catalog to make a thank you card, Earthen Textures. Here’s the sketch:
And here’s my card:
Colors, Measurements, and Tips:
- Start with a 11″x 4-1/4″ piece of Thick Basic White. Score and fold it in half at 5-1/2″ for the card base.
- Glue a front panel of Gray Granite Cardstock, 5-1/2″x 4-1/4.”
- Add a 5-1/4″x 4″ piece of Earthen Elegance DSP to the front.
- Next glue down another piece of Earthen Elegance DSP (the solid Pretty Peacock print), 3-1/4″ wide and 3″ tall.
- Over that, glue a 3-5/8″x 2-3/8″ piece of Basic White.
- Stamp, crop, and glue the pot, fronds, & sticks using Lost Lagoon, Pebbled Path, Pool Party, and Wild Wheat. Pop the whole thing up on Dimensionals and adhere to the card front.
- Tip: To get the variation of color on the pot, stamp it twice and fussy cut out the top and bottom of the Pebbled Path pot, then glue the cut pieces to the Lost Lagoon pot.
- Tip: Arrange the fronds and sticks before gluing. With a small sheet of Glad Press & Seal, cover the arrangement. Pick the whole thing up, add some glue where needed and glue to the pot. Remove the Press & Seal. Your arrangement won’t shift or change shape while gluing it to the pot.
- For the sentiment, heat emboss with White Embossing Powder over a matching piece of Pretty Peacock DSP. Cut it down to 1-3/4″x 1/2″ and adhere with Mini Dimensionals.
- Tip: Back the DSP with Pretty Peacock Cardstock before embossing. This will add stability to the small piece of DSP.
- Finish it off with three Rustic Metallic Dots.
