Detailed Deer with Copper Shine

Another en-deer-ing card for you today! Happy Friday! I used the Detailed Deer Thinlit on this card that I CASEd from Stampin’ Up!

This card has the most gorgeous Designer Paper ever, called Joyous Noel Specialty DSP. I think Stampin’ Up! did a marvelous job on their Holiday designer papers this year. I can’t pick a favorite, except to say that whichever one I’m working with at the moment is my favorite! This paper has copper foil accents on one side of each paper. The Gray Granite with white deer is one of them. The opposite sides have beautiful prints as well, such as this Merry Merlot circle piece that I’ve used.

I layered the Merlot circle with Copper Foil. Remember my trick to save on Foil paper? Cut the middle out that doesn’t show! On this one, I used a smaller circle framelit and cut it out, leaving enough border to glue the Merlot on top. But now I have an extra circle of Copper Foil to use on another card!

The Merlot/Copper ribbon is stunning, and easy to tie. I love it! The Joy stamp is from Hearts Come Home in the Annual Catalog. I masked off the rest of the sentiment and isolated “Joy” for this tiny tag from Wood Crate Framelits.

On the inside, I stamped the sentiment from Merry Christmas To All in Merry Merlot, and added a Copper Foil flower from the Detailed Deer Thinlits.

One more tip: The deer’s antlers are quite delicate, and since the deer is popped up a bit they were in danger of being torn off. So I balled up 3 Glue Dots between my thumb and finger and stuck it under the antlers where they wouldn’t show. I did this in 3 different places. The 3 Glue Dots gave enough lift to support the antlers and make them even with the rest of the deer. Now I’m fairly confident that they will stay intact.

The weather is perfectly beautiful and I’ll be sitting in nature at it’s Autumn best! They have real deer that graze in their meadow at this retreat center.
