Dare to go Square!

I have heard that “square” will be very fashionable in 2021! That’s good, because I love a square card. It’s a little different, a little quirky. Yes, there is that menacing fact that is costs 20 cents more to mail… but if you make it a 4-1/4″ square, you can get away with a regular envelope and save on the extra postage. So how about it? Will you dare to go square?

Here’s a simple square card that I made with the new, gorgeous designer paper by Stampin’ Up! called Hydrangea Hill. It will be available soon ~ January 5th. It’s part of the Hydrangea Hill Suite, which just might need to be your splurge purchase this month. It’s that pretty!

I started off by cutting a piece of the Hydrangea Hill DSP to a 4″ square, then glued it to a 4-1/8″ square of Night of Navy Cardstock. This particular sheet of the DSP is different than all the rest as it has a flower garden on each end with an expanse of sky between them in the middle. Here’s a look at the sheet:

If you cut it like I did, at 4″x 4″, you will get 6 cards with flowers on them and 3 with a pretty sky-blue background.

Here is a look at the full pack. I’m partial to hydrangeas, so I love these designs!

To add a little bit of texture and interest to this very simple card, I ran the 10″x 5″ piece of Highland Heather Cardstock through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine with the Subtle Embossing Folder.

The sentiment from Life is Beautiful is glossy because I stamped it first with Night of Navy ink, then with Versamark ink and heat embossed it with Clear Emboss Powder.

The “dew drops” are clear Elegant Faceted Gems.

I made the envelope with a thinner white cardstock, then lined the back flap with another one of the DSP prints. Isn’t it beautiful? I think I like it! Lol!
