We’re fast approaching Spring! Daylight Savings Time has begun and the days are getting longer. The temps haven’t quite caught up to the calendar, but they will pretty soon. I think it’s time to start planting the garden! We actually have started, as our growing season is pretty long in California. Even if you can’t get outside to start planting, you can make a paper garden right now! I’ve created a Storybook Garden Patch scene, which my class participants found very fun to make.
Class Card #1 ~
This fun little garden is made with all the gardening equipment and vegetables you’ll need from the Storybook Garden Patch bundle. The dirt hills were made by tearing the sides of three Pecan Pie strips and layering them on the card base. The sky is Timeless Plaid DSP, the clouds are from the (retired) Cloud Punch, and the sentiment is from Storybook Friends Stamp Set.
I stamped the pieces with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, colored them with Blends Markers, and cropped them out with the coordinating dies. Here’s a look at the bundle:
How fun! You’ve got peas, strawberries, a carrot, lettuce, and depending on how you color it – a beet or a turnip or maybe even a radish! We went with beet!
The watering can is a two-part die. I stamped black on Smokey Slate then cropped the overlay from some matte silver foil.
I glued the clouds together and mounted them with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Then I gave them a little definition between them along the left side with Wink of Stella.
When you build your soil rows, don’t forget to leave the top sides un-glued. That way, you can tuck your veggies and tools in between the hills.
Here’s a question for you:
What will you grow in your garden this year? So far, my husband has planted tomatoes, asparagus, strawberries, blueberries, and potatoes. When it warms up a little more, we’ll plant melons, cucumbers, and squash. Yummy!
I’ll be sharing two more of the cards that we made in class last week. Stay tuned!
Enjoy your week,

So cute. Mike has lots of roses, lilacs, hydrangeas and other flowers but not any veggies. I used to have chives and basil but he emptied out the containers for more flowers. I like how you tore the paper for the dirt. So fun with the gingham paper too. Fun, spring card.
Your card is so darn cute & it makes us start to think about maybe planting a garden this year. We have taken a break the last couple of years but with the price of produce now days it might be time to think of a garden again! But, we are in MN so it will be a couple months yet to ponder!
Your card and the warmer weather have me thinking about my garden! It’s mostly flowers but we may try a raised veg garden this year. Love the creativity with this stamp set!
This year we’ll be planting lettuces, beans, tomatoes, squashes (soft and hard), potatoes and garlic (3 varieties) I’m in Vermont and despite warming weather, we still have several inches of snow on the ground, so…..it’ll be a while!
