Celebrating Retiring Products

Hi my crafty friends! I have another card that uses some retiring products to show you. Today I’m using the Celebrate You Thinlits Dies, the Petal Promenade Designer Series Paper, and the Floral Embossing Folder. To see a former card on which I used Celebrate You Thinlits Dies, click HERE.

You should have seen the round-about way that I came up with this card design! I don’t think I can even describe it. It started off as one idea that morphed and changed again and again… and ended up here!

Step By Step

To start it off, I embossed a 5-1/4″ x 4″ piece of Grapefruit Grove cardstock with the Lovely Floral Embossing Folder (retiring).

Next, I cut one of the border strips from the Petal Promenade DSP (retiring). The strip is 12″ long, so I was able to make two cards with one strip. I decided to fussy cut the top edge of the border to make it more interesting. Then I glued only the bottom and side edges to the bottom of the Grapefruit Grove piece.

I cropped out the word “celebrate” from Celebrate You Thinlits (retiring) in Mossy Meadow cardstock and tucked it in and around the flowers. At that point, I glued all of the edges down nice and snug. I used Wink of Stella shimmer pen only on the raised portions of the floral embossing to enhance the color just a bit.

On the inside, I cut and glued “amazing YOU” from the same thinlits with Mossy Meadow cardstock. See that little piece of DSP? That was left over from the border on the front. Not wanting to waste any of this pretty paper, I tucked it in under the U and glued it down.

The base card is Calypso Coral, cut at 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, scored and folded at 4-1/4″for a top fold card.

So – what do you think? Did my crazy design work? or is it just, umm, weird? If nothing else, it is different! If you haven’t purchased these retiring items, better jump on it. All three items are “as supplies last,” which means they could sell out any day now. Click HERE to shop. Thank you!

On The Road Again

If you read my Monday post, you know I’m traveling again. But I did bring my April Paper Pumpkin kit with me. I’m in the process of making the cards and designing some alternatives. I’ll post those on Friday, so please come back if you would like to see. I have to say, I really like this April Paper Pumpkin kit! And next month’s kit was designed in part by former CEO, Shelli Gardner. It looks beautiful too. I’ll put in a plug…if you have never bought a PP kit, this upcoming one would be a great one to try. If you put your subscription on hold for awhile (or cancelled), this May kit would be worth coming back to. Click HERE to sign up and please name me, Karen Hallam, as your demonstrator. Thank you!

I hope you’re having a great week! See you back on Friday 🙂

I, too, like this pretty “different” card. I have that embossing folder and have not used it much, time to break it out again. I like the little flower treatment on the inside. I was late out the gate in buying this flowery paper so I have a whole pack to play with. Have a safe trip.

  2. Hi Karen, I like this card and have all the supplies to make it. I hope to get to some crafting today.
    Have a blessed day.
