Rosanne and I are back today with our May posting of CASEing Coast to Coast. This has been such a fun journey with Rosanne the past few months! If you have missed any of them, you can do a search in the box on the right. Type in CASEing and you should be directed to all of them. Or click HERE to see last month’s post. Today’s is “CASEing Coast to Coast: Ornate Gardens”, named for the DSP that Rosanne chose. Take a look at her card, then I’ll bring you my version of her card.
Not only is her card beautiful and elegant on the outside, but it’s a gift card holder on the inside! See her post HERE.
My CASE of her card is more rustic than elegant, but I stuck with the card layout and even included a gift card pocket on the inside. Here is my card.
I’ve got bits of new and bits of old in this card. Can you spot which parts are new?
Materials & Measurements:
- Ornate Garden DSP, 5-1/2″x 3″ for front, 5-1/4″x 1″ for inside
- Soft Suede Cardstock, 8-1/2″x 5-1/2″ for card base, 5-1/2″x 1-1/4″ for front panel, and 3-1/2″x 2-1/2″ for label
- Very Vanilla, 5-1/4″x 4″ for inside, 2-1/2″x 1/2″ for inside banner, and 3-1/2″x 2-1/2″ for label
- Vanilla Open Weave Ribbon from Forever Greenery Trim Combo Pack (Sneak Peek!), 14″
- 2020-22 In Color 6″x 6″ DSP, Bumblebee, 4-1/2″x 1″ for envelope (Sneak Peek!)
Directions:
- Score and fold Soft Suede base at 4-1/4.”
- Run the Soft Suede 1-1/4″ piece through your Die Cut & Embossing Machine with Pinewood Planks 3D Embossing Folder. Glue to the bottom front of card.
- Glue the DSP to the front of the card.
- Run the ribbon around the front flap of the card along the “seam” line where the two papers meet. Tie a knot on the left side.
- Cut two labels from Stitched So Sweetly Dies from Suede and Vanilla cardstock. Stamp the sentiment from Rooted in Nature on the Vanilla label with Soft Suede ink.
- Cut the Suede label down and adhere to the sides of the Vanilla label with Dimensionals for a little shadow effect. Glue the labels to the front with Dimensionals.
- Add three new In Color Enamel Dots (Sneak Peek!) to the front.
Inside
A gift card can slip down into the pocket created by the DSP. When attaching it to the Vanilla layer, put Tear & Tape to the two sides and bottom edge only. The top edge is left unglued to serve as a pocket.
I stamped Happy Birthday from a brand new stamp set call Blossoms in Bloom. Wait till you see this one! It’s a beauty!!
The new 6″x 6″ Designer Series Paper (another sneak peek!) with the patterns on them are really cool. I chose one from the Bumblebee color. It has a woodgrain print that mimics the Embossing Folder used on the front.
Well, what do you think? Two very different cards, same great layout! CASEing is fun. It gives you an idea of where to start, then lets your creativity flow into your own unique project. Give it a try!
Tomorrow I will be back to my walk through the Mini Catalog, featuring the DSP that will be retiring as of June 2. I’m reaching the end of the series. This week should wrap it up. See you tomorrow!

Love the pretty “rustic” by spin you put on this card. I love seeing our unique interpretation of each other’s cards each month.
Thanks, Rosanne! I enjoy these CASEing posts as well! The designs can go in many different directions!
