I love the Poppy Parade color in Stampin’ Up!’s Peaceful Poppies DSP, but the native state flower in California is really more of a Pumpkin Pie color. Here is a photo from our front yard, showing a CA Poppy bloom:
This vibrant orange and green is breathtaking. I had to make an attempt to re-create it on a card!
When you look into the centers of these flowers, you see a tiny bit of yellow in the center with even tinier dots of black. But primarily the whole flower is this beautiful orange, so I kept mine monochromatic, just as I see it in real life.
I have loved ones that are about to leave California and start life in another state. I’m going to miss them so much. I’ll save this card and send it to them when they are settled. A little piece of California to say “I miss you!”
Of course, poppies come in all colors (not just orange as in the CA Poppy Bloom). Click here to see a card I made using purples!
Pin It Now, Purchase It Later
The Poppy Moments Die Set is currently on backorder, but my Stampin’ Up! sources say it should be available again on April 13, along with several other sets. If you don’t have it yet, I highly encourage you to order it when it comes available again. It’s a keeper! I have another card for Wednesday that highlights this set as well, but with a very different look! Come back on Wednesday to see it! Better yet, subscribe to follow my blog and you will receive a notification in your email whenever I publish a new post. There is a box to enter your email in the upper right corner, directly under my picture. When you supply your email, I will send you a fun tutorial to say “Thank you!”
Thinking of You
Please join me in lifting each other up during this difficult CV time of isolation! On my FB page, https://www.facebook.com/stampinghabit/, I have started a Card Chain. Enter your name in the Comments section and send a “Thinking of You” card to the person directly above you. Addresses can be shared in the comments or by PM. Either way, let’s send some Happy Mail to a friend as we could all use some encouragement right about now!
Thanks and God bless you all. Stay safe!

Your card is beautiful. How did you get the orange design die to cut out? Did you fussy cut?
Hi Cj, Yes, I fussy cut it out. I found it very easy to do – the design lends itself to imperfect cutting, which helped!
Beautiful card but I have to say not as beautiful as your display of poppies in your beautiful yard! Priceless.❤
Thanks, Beth! We love the poppies!
I love this one! Poppies are one of my favorites and orange is my favorite color. I will take some of these without a greeting when we can ever get together so I can get my cards.
You’ve got it! Looking forward to being able to get together, Lorna!
What beauty you get to enjoy right in your front yard, Karen! But, there is another poppy that is red with black centers. There’s also other colors, too! They are all so
pretty!!
Yes, we used to have a different variety of Poppies when we lived up in Oregon that were all different colors. I’ve got a hot pink one to show you on Wednesday!
You’ve replicated your state flower beautifully on paper, Karen! How lucky you are to have the beautiful poppy field right outside your door…thanks for the beautiful photo. Hugs from the “other” coast!
Hugs back at you, Rosanne!
Gorgeous. I thought the same thing when this suite came out. I love poppies, whichever color they choose to be! Great idea for your loved ones.
Thanks so much, seriouslysassystamper!
