Butterfly Kisses Angled Gatefold

I am quite enamored with these angled gatefold cards! I made a “test” with some older Christmas paper (see below) and had some leftover paper, so I decided to make this sweet Butterfly Kisses angled gatefold.

If you are interested in trying one, I’m going to refer you to You Tube. There are a few videos that people have made showing you how to cut and score to get the angles. I will tell you that I struggled with getting the DSP cut just right from the directions they gave, so I made a template out of copy paper and I just use and reuse it. Works great!

The card is held together with a belly band. I made mine to match the card base and cut it at 11″x 1-1/4″. Wrap it from the back and glue the ends together in the front, then glue your decoration to the front of the band, covering up the seam.

Details:
  • Fresh Freesia Cardstock base, 11″x 5-1/2″, scored at 3-3/8″ from each end
  • Basic White (for inside), 5-1/4″x 4″
  • Butterfly Kisses DSP, 6″x 3″, two pieces cut in opposite directions to fit the two sides
  • Basic White scalloped circle from Layering Circles Dies (3″ diameter)
  • Butterfly hand-cut from Butterfly Kisses DSP and attached with a Dimensional
  • Sentiment stamped in Night of Navy from Happiness Abounds
  • Navy Rhinestones (or rhinestones colored with Night of Navy Blends)

I love last year’s penguin paper, and thankfully, I still have quite a bit of it! Super cute!!!

I wish I had a granddaughter to send this to! I’ll have to adopt someone else’s since I only have grandsons!

Give it a try – you might get “hooked” like me – and let me know if you have any questions. I recommend making a practice one first before cutting into your precious DSP! It took me a couple of tries to get it right.

  1. I love this penguin card… great colours!

I thought I was making a mess until I finally made a template from a card someone sent me. I went by some directions but man, it did not look the best. But, now I want to make the penguin one first and then some more. I need to pay attention more if there is a directional pattern, that is another story. I think I was thinking too hard the first try or two. Your cards are so cute.
