Beautiful Gallery (plus some helpful tips!)

Can it really be November already? Yikes! As the time quickly marches on, we have a color challenge today that reads calm and serene to me. “Slow down and enjoy the view.” Cloud Cover, Misty Moonlight, and Pecan Pie took me right to this sheet from Beautiful Gallery that I’ve been saving for just this very occasion.

Here’s our Challenge:

And Here’s My Card:

I cut this boat scene into 3 pieces (that was a leap of faith!). I started with a piece that is 4-3/4″x 3-7/8″ and cut 1″ off each end. That left a 2-3/4″ piece for the middle.

I have a great TIP for you today! I was seriously nervous about cutting this piece up because I only had one sheet left and I knew I wanted to use this scenic print. So I cut a piece of lightweight vellum into the size I wanted for the DSP – 4-3/4″x 3-7/8″ – and I lay the vellum over the whole 6″x 6″ sheet of DSP and moved it around until I found the best place to cut. It took all of the nervousness away because I knew I would have the scene just as I wanted it!

Botta bing, botta boom! Glue the three pieces to a layer of Pecan Pie, wrap Linen Thread around it twice, and adhere it to the Misty Moonlight base.

For the inside, I just happened to have a scrap left from the bottom of the 6″x 6″ piece that fit perfectly into the 5″x 3-3/4″ Basic White layer.

For the sentiment, I used Branching Out. I stamped in Misty Moonlight onto a 3″x 1/2″ strip of Cloud Cover Cardstock. This has to be adhered with Dimensionals to fit over the twine. I cut a very skinny strip of Dimensional off one edge and it worked perfectly.

I probably didn’t need to use the three Cloud Cover Flat Pearls, but they’re pretty, so I did.

Have a beautiful day,
