Basket of Blooms

If this doesn’t wake you up, you probably need another cup of coffee! 🙂 I have not spent much time with Magenta Madness. It is one of the five new In Colors and is really an in-your-face color, wouldn’t you say? I put it together with Basket of Blooms (#153305) today in answer to a card challenge for Festive Friday. Here is their challenge board this week.

#FF0063

I’ve included a friendship sentiment, a heart, PINK!, green, flowers, a touch of sparkle, ribbon, and die cuts. Almost everything!

A Closer Look

I made the basket of blooms first. To begin, I stamped and hand cut the basket, then colored it with Soft Suede Blends. Then I stamped and colored the leaves. On a piece of scrap Whisper White I stamped three Magenta Madness flowers and two Daffodil Delight flowers. Instead of coloring them in, I used a Blender Pen to pull the color from the outline stamp into the center. It made for a nice soft shade of the same ink. The pink flowers have a coordinating punch called Small Bloom Punch #152316 and a tiny touch of Stickles sparkle. I hand cut the yellow flowers.

The background paper is 2020-2022 In Color 6″x 6″ DSP (#153070 on page 144.) The ribbon is In Color 1/4″ Ribbon in Magenta Madness #153623. The Die Cuts I used are Stitched Shapes, oval, #152323, and the heart from Mini Curvy Keepsakes Box Dies, #150644. “Hey, Friend!” can be found in Itty Bitty Greetings, #151331.

What’s your opinion of Magenta Madness? I think it’s a pretty pow of color, not one I will reach for often. I don’t know, what do you think? Do you love it? Hate it? Indifferent to it? Leave me a comment with your opinion! I’d love to hear.

Enjoy your weekend!

Beautiful, Karen! A definite day brightener for sure! I LOVE it. Thank you for sharing at Festive Friday this week.

  2. I like the Magenta Madness but to me looks pretty much the same as the Lovely Lipstick that just retired.

I am not a magenta person. I might pair it with black and white for a pop of color on a card like I have done with melon man no. Aren’t they pretty similar? I will use what I have of it but don’t plan on a whole pack of cardstock or anything that drastic. I like your perky basket of flowers though.

  4. It is a powerful color! I think I will use it for a border or accent first. Once I am used to seeing it I will try to become more creative with it. Magenta Madness may work well with black and white card stock or DSP with it mixed with other colors. A Valentine card comes to mind!

  5. I agree that Magenta Madness is kind of bright, but you have used it in a very appealing way. Your card is lovely.
