Basic Stamping 101, Part 3: Masking

Welcome back! Today is Day 3 of my Basic Stamping series. If you missed Days 1 & 2, you can see them HERE and HERE.
Today I want to show you a stamping technique called “masking.” This is a fun way to add some interest to your card without requiring a lot of products. All you need is a Post-it Note and either an oval punch, framelit, or pair of scissors!
Begin by cutting an oval out of the Post-it Note. Make sure some of the stickiness is on the back of your oval area that you cut. Lay it down on the area that you want to leave white.
For today’s card, I’m using a Whisper White Note Card & Envelope and again, the same stamp set called Sheltering Tree. I’m still working with my Old Olive ink pad, but have added in another color today – Daffodil Delight.
Using the leaves stamp from Sheltering Tree, I stamped once directly over the Post-it with full strength ink, then moved the stamp slightly and stamped again without re-inking (“stamping off”).
Next I removed the mask and stamped my sentiment into the center using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Then I took the small leaf/flower stamp from the set and scattered some Daffodil Delight leaves throughout the green.
To tie in the yellow, I used a piece of yellow DSP from Color Theory Designer Series Paper to line the back flap of my envelope. This DSP comes in 6″ x 6″ sheets in four different colors with a fun paint chip design on each ~

A quick tie of Baker’s Twine and three scattered yellow and green Glitter Dots, and you have a sweet note card for any purpose.
