A Team Effort!

I have the sweetest little team that I am proud to call my friends in this stamping journey! Today we gathered at my house for some “team building!” I can call it that because each person brought a card and all the materials for the rest of us to build under their instruction. Sometimes this is called a “shoebox swap.” We had so much fun!

I set the table and had to take a “before” photo. It’s so tidy!
Botanical Butterflies Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up, Karen Hallam, stampinupI made a few little goodies for each one to take home: an empty box for them to take their cards home in, a small matchbox with Merci Chocolates, and a pouch that has a gift card inside. As you can see, I’m having fun with that free Botanical Butterflies DSP! I think I might need more before the month is over.

Here are my Stamping Habit team members and our table with stamping well on its way! Left to right: Irma, Nancy, Shila, and Beth.

Irma got out of the picture and took one with me in it 🙂

Cards

Here are the cards that each person brought to make. I have to preface that there was some CASEing going on here, but forgive me, we don’t know who the original designers were (except for one – my card, inspired by Mary Fish! Thank you, Mary!)

After stamping we enjoyed a soup and salad lunch with my favorite mocha chip cupcakes for dessert.

Laughter

We got the giggles when we tried to take a selfie using the timer on our iPhones. Imagine a bunch of retired ladies (except for Irma who had to leave earlier) trying to get our phone lined up with no tri-pod and trying to catch ourselves in a pose! It was hilarious!

This was our first try. Oops, better turn the reverse button on!

Take #2. Got the reverse button on but – not enough light!

Take #3. Outside. Better light. But watch out, the phone is falling off the table! OMG, enough of that!

It was a fun “girl” day! My favorite parts of being involved with Stampin’ Up! are the friendships and laughter. They are priceless. If you are ever in the Sacramento area, look me up! We’ll have a place for you at our table!

Enjoy the rest of your week!

  1. Karen, What an amazing presentation and fun group! Your talented team shared beautiful creations! I could just hear the giggles with trying to get a photo…been there , failed that!!! LOL

  2. Karen, thank you for putting this fun group together. We had tons of fun and laughs and were inspired by all the great cards. It truly made me appreciate you even more because coming up with a card to share was very stressful! Yours are always so beautiful I didn’t want to disappoint anyone! Thank goodness it is OK to CASE cards. I am not the most original person in the world but I am good at CASING with my own twist! Great time, great lunch and yes, the cupcakes were awesome and hard to resist! And the gifts you made for all of us were so nice. I could tell this is all a labor of love for you and we are the grateful recipients!

Oh Karen! What fun! I miss being a part of your team. You are an amazing friend and leader.

  4. Karen, I thoroughly enjoyed our day making cards, having a wonderful lunch, and receiving your thoughtful gifts! And your cupcakes were amazing!! Would love the recipe. Thanks for all you do!

  5. Love the cards and your sharing them but it also sounds like you need to share your mocha chip cupcake recipe too!😉. Too bad I live in central Illinois instead of the Sacramento area.

    • It IS too bad. Central Illinois is a bit far from here! Let me know if you ever come out this way on vacation! And since a few have asked, I may have to include my recipe in a future post! 😉

  6. What fun!!! That is what it is all about! Love the cards AND the goodies you made for the gang!!!

I bet you had a great time. Sure looks like some great projects were made. Love all your goodies to take home. I really like all the cards that were made too. You all are too neat and tidy. Now, what about those cupcakes – did you buy them or make them? They sound divine. I’d love the recipe if you made them!

  8. I’m so jealous~sounds like such a fabulous day. Loved the cards, too; so much creativity. Thanks for sharing.

  9. Ok…where are you that there are LEAVES on the trees? I haven’t seen leaves for months…all we have is snow and cold. It is March, right? Oh, and the cards were spectacular..so pretty!

    • Veronica, we are blessed with early Springs in California! Between Sacramento and Auburn, CA. My daughter is living in Wisconsin right now, and all I can say is, I’m sorry! 🙂 It’s been raining here but we have NOTHING to complain about!!!

    • Shila Froehlich

We did have a great time. The gifts were so cute. Lunch was great and you really have to eat one of those cupcakes to know how good they were. Fun making all the cards too.

  10. Good morning! I hope you can see my smile from the East Coast to the West Coast… What a fun day you had!

Not only was it fun but… Wow, the cards you all made were wonderful! I have to say… Those mocha chip Cupcakes sound amazing!

  11. Oh Karen, how nice. The cards are lovely. What a great time everyone.

Nancy and Susan, why in the world are you up so darn early? In fact, I realize this is CA time since it is almost 8:00 here and it has 5:55 a.m. for my comment. Well, I guess that made it 6:30 when you commented and that is early enough! I guess the 3:27 a.m. stood out!
