A Sweet Treat with a Hidden Wish

Who wouldn’t enjoy getting a little box like this filled with Peppermint treats?!
I will be attending a Women’s Christmas Brunch at our church this weekend and I offered to make these tiny treat boxes for our hostess’s table.  The theme of the brunch this year is Gingerbread!  Our Candy Cane Lane DSP couldn’t be more perfect for the occasion!
I took quite a few pictures, but they really don’t need any explanation, other than the size and scoring measurements.  So I’ll start there.
Begin with a strip of Whisper White cardstock measuring 2″ x 7 3/4″.  The box sides measure 2″ x 2″ but I found that if I try to make it the full size, it doesn’t slide in nicely.  The scoring is this: 1 15/16″, 3 7/8″, and 5 13/16″.
Cut out your gingerbread houses or any desired paper a scant 2″ x 2″ and glue it to the white strip. Trim off any overhang. Then I cut a half-circle out of the top front to make a little finger grip.
Inside the box, glue down a 2″ x 2″ square of white cardstock that has been stamped with the sentiment from Candy Cane Christmas stamp set.  When they empty the peppermints from the box they will see the message! Cute!
Then place your long strip into the treat box around the sides.  No need to glue.  Fill with candies, tie a ribbon around it and attach a tag.  You’re done!  Here are some more photos ~
Have a great weekend!  Don’t forget to check out the Year End Close Out Sale (click here). there are lots of great bargains on retiring products, clearance rack items, and high inventory products.  Some of the prices are marked down 60%!  It’s really worth a look.
Until next week, have fun stamping!

  1. Karen, I love this box and was just thinking this morning about how I was going to wrap a doll house miniature gift. Perfect! And a HUGE smile came when I saw the picture of the inside of your box. (of course I had not read the directions yet, I am such a visual person!) LOVE IT!!!
