A Square Card (for CSF 871)

Today we have a sketch challenge at Create with Stamping Friends. It’s a square card today. I love a square card! It’s just a little unexpected, and if you make it 4-1/4″x 4-1/4″ it will fit into one of our medium envelopes.

Here’s the challenge:

And here’s my card:

This woodsy house is from Beautiful Gallery DSP. I cropped it down with a Stylish Shapes square die – the second to largest of them. That gave me a starting point and I started layering out.

Here’s my recipe from the inside out:
  • Beautiful Gallery DSP, Stylish Shapes Die, 2-3/8″ square
  • Early Espresso Cardstock, 2-1/2″ square
  • Cloud Cover Cardstock, Stylish Shapes Die, 2-3/4″ square
  • Country Woods DSP, 4″x 4″
  • Basic White Cardstock, 4-1/8″x 4-1/8″
  • Early Espresso Cardstock base, 8-1/2″x 4-1/4″, folded at 4-1/4″
  • Crumb Cake Cardstock for sentiment strip, 3-1/4″x 3/8″
    • Thankful Garden sentiment, stamped in Early Espresso
  • Linen Thread, 12″

I found it easiest to wrap the Linen Thread around the DSP/white layers first, attach that to the base, then add the focal piece over the Thread. I adhered the sentiment strip with Mini Dimensionals to the focal piece.

  1. Lovely card. I love the DSP paper and it fits so well with the background paper. Turning the paper so it resembles a diamond shape makes the card unique. Thank you for sharing

Oh wow, this is amazing! I looked at the sketch and thought flowers again, ho hum. But, you really made this special and the background DSP added to the interest. Love all the layers.

    • Thanks, Chris! I’m curious to know what made you think “flowers again”? What was is about the sketch that said flowers to you? I’m glad you like my interpretation!
