A Rose For Your Birthday!

Today’s card was inspired by this week’s Pals Paper Arts Challenge.  And here is the sketch that got me started:

I had all the parts and tried to put them together just like the sketch, but it just wasn’t working for me!  Ever happen to you?  So I rearranged things a bit, and like the way it turned out!
The DSP I used is from Have a Cuppa DSP Stack.  Both pieces are on the same paper – one is the front and the other is the back.  That made it super easy to cut and lay out.  I ran a piece of Melon Mambo ribbon down the seam.
The base and the square layers are Bermuda Bay.  This color has been around for a long time but I never used it much until they brought it out in the new Designer Series Papers.  Now it is one of my all time favorites!
The birthday sentiment is from Circle of Spring in the Annual Catalog and stamped with Bermuda Bay.
The rose and leaf were cropped out using the Rose Garden Thinlits Dies.  I cropped the single rose out using a Melon Mambo piece of DSP (Have a Cuppa) and one leaf from the larger rose die out of Pool Party. I glued the rose to a piece of Pink Pirouette and carefully trimmed around the edges.  Then I pieced the rose and leaf together and glued them down to a square of Whisper White.
So I guess if you stand on your head to look at my card, it almost matches the sketch (lol!) Take a peek at what our talented Pals created for this challenge by clicking HERE
Thanks for coming by!  Tomorrow I’ll show you a birthday card I made for my friend mixing some “vintage” and current products from Stampin’ Up!  I wonder if you have the same products in your closet?  Some are just too good to let go!  See you then~
