Happy New Year! It’s 2019! I hope you’ve had a very good year and that 2019 is even better!
But more importantly in the Hallam family, today is my daughter-in-law’s birthday! Two good reasons to celebrate! I’ve decided to give her a gift card this year and I found this adorable present gift card holder by Erica Cerwin. Erica made a Christmas gift card holder. Since the holidays are behind us, I’ve changed it up to be a birthday gift, using this sweet little cake in the new Amazing Life stamp set (available Jan. 3).
Here it is being opened. The gift card will be attached to the white middle section that slides in and out of the bottom section of the present. Cute!
Here are the measurements, first for the gift bottom ~
Granny Apple Green cardstock: 4-3/4″ x 5″, scored on the long side at 2-1/2″, Whisper White cardstock: 1-1/4″ x 2-1/2″, Brights Granny Apple Green DSP: 1-1/8″ x 2-1/2″
For the gift top ~
Granny Apple Green cardstock: 5-1/4″ x 3″, scored on the short side at 1-1/2″, Whisper White cardstock: 5-1/8″ x 1-3/8″, DSP: 5″ x 1-1/4″
For the middle section ~
Granny Apple Green cardstock: 4″ x 3-1/4″, Whisper White cardstock: 3-7/8″ x 3-1/8″
In order to make the tag, I stamped the birthday cake image with Memento ink onto Whisper White. Then I cut it out with the 2nd smallest Stitched Shapes oval framelit. I just colored bits of the cake with Markers – Granny Apple Green and Pineapple Punch. On the back, I stamped “Happy Birthday” from Itty Bitty Greetings and added a couple of small hearts from A Big Thank You.
To put the whole thing together, I used Tear & Tape on the two inner sides of the bottom section, lined up right on the edges. Now you can slide the middle section into the pocket created in the bottom one. To attach the top section to the middle section, put Dimensionals in the upper two corners of the middle section, front and back. Your gift card holder now pulls opened and closed by pulling the top section of the gift.
Finish it off with a bow using this gorgeous Granny Apple Green ribbon and a couple of Glue Dots. Last of all, tie the tag on with White Baker’s Twine.

I love this. I had seen one like it or almost like it and could kick myself that I didn’t keep the directions. So, thanks as I will be making a few of these. I am behind on some birthday cards as it is.
Very cute gift card holder.
