A Card For the Handy Dad and PPA 253

Good Monday Morning to you, and Happy first day of June!  I have a Father’s Day card for you today – super quick and easy – and I thought I would share with you the thought process that went into making this card.  This narrative went through my head…
“Hmmm, I was going to make a card for the Pals Paper Arts challenge this week.  It’s Sunday already, I’d better get it printed out and think about it.

OK, it’s a sketch challenge with an interesting cut at the bottom.  I wonder if I have any DSP that would lend itself to that design.  This hexagon paper from Confetti Celebrations could work.  If I cut it up and around the hexagons, it kind of looks like the sketch.
This orange paper from the same DSP pack would make a good contrasting panel, with a white piece for a sentiment glued to the top.
The hexagons remind me of something I need to turn with a wrench — ah, ha!  Guy Greetings.  The wrenches!  OK, now the “Righty-tighty” saying has to go with it, but ugh, it’s too long!”  (A quick surgical snip down the middle of the stamp) “Now it fits!  And look!  Happy Father’s Day fits right into the shape of the cut out hexagons.  Cool.
It needs a little something else to make that white panel pop.  Basic Gray – 1/8″ bigger than the white, corner punch all the corners.  Glue it down.  And I think I’ll pop up the orange piece with Dimensionals. Done!”
Now, I’m sure a lot of you stampers are rolling your eyes!  I don’t blame you!  But I thought I’d write this out just to show some of you how easy it is to create a card with what you have.  And when you have a great sketch (thank you, Nicole Watt!) it is even that much easier.
So give it a try.  See what you come up with.  I’m sure it will be a work of art – or heart – and someone is going to love it for the effort you put into it.  Have Fun!!!
See you tomorrow for the first day of the new catalog!
Until then, Happy Stamping!
