A Beautiful Card For A Special Friend

Here I go again, mixing old and new. But just look at how beautifully our new Woven Heirlooms stamp set pairs with our old Petal Promenade DSP!

I am a fan of this scripty, pen & ink font! Woven Heirlooms has such beautiful sentiments, which is what drew me in. The sympathy one is probably my favorite sentiment for that occasion of all time. Today I used one that can translate into wedding, birthday, or many different celebrations.

I stamped it with Calypso Coral onto Very Vanilla cardstock and used a square Stitched Shapes Framelit to cut it out. Since there is both vanilla and white in the flower print of this DSP, I backed the vanilla square with a slightly larger square of Whisper White cardstock. When I added the Petal Pink/White ribbon to it, my eye was happy to have that white border!

I think the Petal Pink Glimmer Dots were a part of a former Paper Pumpkin Kit. Reuse, repurpose, recycle, right?

If you’re like me, you still have a bunch of our old designer papers left from last year’s catalog. I challenge you to pull them out and see which new products pair well with those old designs. Then use them up to make room for the new!

Have a great week! I’m off to a birthday lunch for the friend that will be receiving this card. See you soon!

  1. Beautiful card. What is the finished size?

    • Thank you, Ellen. I think the finished size was 5″ square. I know it didn’t fit into a regular envelope so I made my own. I hope that helps! I gave it to my friend so I don’t have it to measure anymore!

  2. Stunning card! I, too, was on the fence about the Woven Heirlooms suite but now after seeing your various projects I think I have to have it all. Love how you are never afraid to showcase new products with retired items. Stampin’ Up is a genius at blending new styles with past designs, and I will NEVER believe everyone does a complete purge when the new catalog comes out, so thank you for showing us all why we bought [and hoarded?!?] things in the first place!! Your projects are always so CASE-worthy. TFS

  3. Chris from Pella

I had to smile, The UPS man just brought my order and in there was the Woven Heirlooms stamp set. I had forgotten I had ordered it with a retired set! Good thing I didn’t hit the final button on my new order I was placing this morning earlier. I had added it! I have almost a total pack of this paper too. At first I didn’t care for the paper as I thought it was just too busy. But, now that are roses are blooming and we have a riot of color going, I might have to pull out this pack and CASE away! So pretty. I never thought about the vanilla and white together but I think it looks good!

  4. Thank you for bringing my attention to this beautiful stamp set. Woven Heirlooms was not on my wish list until I saw your recent cards using it. It is now at the top of my list. Your creations inspired me…they are beautiful. Thank you for sharing!

    • That is such a sweet compliment! Thank you! Sometimes we just need to see these sets in action to realize their potential!

  5. Just love it. So perfect. Feminine. Soft. Elegant.
    Have a blessed day.
