I ran the Foil Sheet through my Cut & Emboss Machine with the Magnolia 3D Folder, then cut around each flower, leaving a small border around the edges. This was surprisingly easy! I cut it quickly without too much effort and they came out beautifully!

Then I took a sanding block and very lightly sanded the raised areas on the flowers and leaves. This gives the foil a burnished look, and the sanded areas take on a silver tone. Don’t sand too much – just a light hand. And although I left it, I would be more careful to sand in one direction next time. OR ~ if you prefer the shiny, pristine foil look, just skip this step! (But try it once and see – it’s really cool!)

Three Genial Gems gives the card one more bit of sparkle. Did you notice that I left off a sentiment? That was intentional. I tried to add one, but it took my eye away from the magnolias, so I decided the sentiment belongs on the inside of this card! I’m thinking wedding or some other fancy special event.

  1. Karen,
I love this!!! I will have to give it a try. What did you put on the inside. I’ll pull out my magnolia stamp set and try to continue this elegance on the inside. Thank you for sharing.

    • Thanks, Jilli! I usually leave the insides blank until I’m ready to use the card, but the magnolia stamp set would be the perfect choice!

  5. ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS, Karen! I LOVE the sanded effect! So interesting and unique! I LOVE your color palette, too! I think the EMBOSSED FOIL would be lovely in either the Blushing Bride or Rococco Rose, too, especially w/the sanding! SMILES from Madison, WI! :-)))))

    • Thanks, Judith! Yes, I think it would be beautiful in those other colors as well. And I still have plenty to play with! 🙂
