I had fun teaching the ladies in my class this week the “mirror-image stamping” technique with these wide-eyed frogs! And here they are, holding balloons to help celebrate somebody’s birthday…maybe yours?
Happiness Blooms Designer Series Paper makes a splashy backdrop and a colorful palette from which to create the balloons. We stamped those with matching colors using Balloon Celebration and punched them out with the smaller side of the Balloon Bouquet Punch.
If this card looks vaguely familiar, you are right! I made a similar card for my grandsons for Valentine’s Day. Here is a peek at that one, in case you missed it!
I used the same “ground” stamp from Waterfront and Sahara Sand ink. I love these frogs, Amos and Amy Amphibian, and it’s possible you will see them make another appearance in the future!
Their eyes turned yellow for this card! Maybe they are part chameleon. All silliness aside, if you would like to own these frog stamps for yourself, they are FREE with a $50 purchase from Stampin’ Up! during Sale-A-Bration, Jan.3 – March 31. The four current catalogs are on the side bar of this blog for you to look through. You will find “So Hoppy Together” in the SAB 1st Brochure. All of the free gifts with purchase are amazing. It might be hard to choose!
Have a wonderful weekend! My brother and sister-in-law are escaping the snow in Minnesota and coming out to San Francisco for the weekend. I’m so excited to join them for a day. I’ll be wearing a coat and he will be sporting a tee shirt, I’m guessing! It will be a nice “warm” reprieve for them (I saw the snow pictures from MN – crazy deep!)

I love the card. I have the Balloon Celebration but I’m wondering what stamp you used for the yellow starburst and the green stars in the balloons? Thanks, Julie
Thanks, Julie! The green stars in the balloon are part of Balloon Celebration. The stamp only has three stars but I stamped it a few times to fill up the balloon. The yellow starburst is a non-SU stamp called Starburst Background from Your Next Stamp. As I was telling Sharyn, I don’t remember where I got it, but maybe you can find it with an online search.
What stamp is the sun inside the yellow balloon?
Sharyn, it is not a SU stamp. I don’t even remember where I picked it up – online or in a store. But I can tell you it is from a company called Your Net Stamp and the name of the stamp is Starburst Background. Check online – you may be able to Google it.
Hopping good! I like this card even better than the Valentine one! Oh, I gotta try that mirror technique too now. So bright and cheerful. Besides birthday it could be a get well card with their balloons or even a thank you card. Now, I know what to do with my share of this paper as I just was unsure what to do. The white background, I guess, helped ground the colors for me. So much fun!!!!
Thanks, Chris! The mirror image stamping is so easy and fun – give it a try!
