As some of you know, I recently went to visit my brother’s family in Minnesota where we spent a week at their cabin in the northern part of the state. It was beautiful there, and we had great weather for all kinds of lake play, until the last day we were there. It rained, thunder and lightning…no lake play that day! So we piled into the car and drove east to Duluth and Lake Superior where we took in some sight-seeing and spent the day in museums and restaurants. We found a fish store along the way and bought several types of dried fish for our picnic dinner, which was wonderful. Inside this little roadside store they had some local gifts — this pretty maple leaf bottle of Minnesota maple syrup became mine!
All that story to say, I wanted to thank my brother and sister-in-law for the fun week, and 2 things fell into place. My Leaflets Framelits arrived in the mail, and I saw a card by Linda Heller that I knew I wanted to CASE. Here is my card:
I used a base of Whisper White, a layer of Early Espresso, and a layer of Sahara Sand. From the Sahara Sand layer, I cut out the maple leaf using my new framelits.
After cropping the leaf out, I put the sheet through the Big Shot a second time, with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.
A 1″ wide strip of vellum wraps around the Sand and Espresso layers, held together in the back with Glue Dots. I cropped the white “thanks” out using the Greetings Thinlits and glued it to the vellum with our new Fine-tipped Glue.
I didn’t take a picture of it, but I did stamp the matching maple leaf stamp from Vintage Leaves in Sahara Sand on the inside and then wrote my note of thanks right over the top of it.
