Love Tree

Have you ever carved your initials into a tree?

My friend told me a sweet story about her husband carving their initials into a tree in their front yard when they bought a new house.  She had asked me to create a valentine for her to give him, and I couldn’t wait to turn her story into a card!

This was fun.  I used all Stampin’ Up! products except for the 2 little J’s that I heat embossed into the heart.

The tree trunk is Crumb Cake, embossed with the Woodgrain Textured Embossing Folder.  I glued the trunk directly to a piece of DSP from our new Love Blossoms DSP Stack.  The heart is from Groovy Love, stamped in Rose Red and punched out with the Sweetheart Punch.  The tree leaves were cropped out of Garden Green Cardstock using various sizes of the Floral Frames Framelits.  Each layer is popped up with Dimensionals, as is the heart on the tree.

Inside ~

Not to state the obvious, but I thought the & on the inside went well with the outside.  This frame is from Bloomin’ Love in the new Occasions Catalog, and the sentiment is from the Host set, Six Sayings.  Oops, that was from the Holiday Catalog, so may no longer be available.  There are several equally nice stamps that will fit into this frame.

I considered embellishing the tree leaves somehow, but the background paper is pretty busy, so I left it unadorned!  What do you think?  Does it need more frill???  Maybe a little Versamark stamping on the green to give it a textured look…   next time!

Think she’ll like it?
