Don’t these colors just scream, “Spring!” to you? I’ve been very interested in trying some water color techniques lately and I saw a video on Acrylic Watercolor Wash by Linda Heller. This is a surprisingly simple technique where you color on an acrylic block with Stampin’ Write Markers, spritz it with water, then place your watercolor paper on top of the block to soak up all the yummy color.
After that dries you can stamp and color over it. I chose Helping Me Grow and Circle of Spring stamp sets.
Tip: Always use Watercolor Paper and a permanent ink such as Staz-On or semi permanent ink such as Basic Black Archival Ink. This paper can handle the water without pilling and the permanent ink won’t run when it gets wet.
I used a Blender Pen and an Aqua Painter with my Classic Ink Pads to color in the images.
I am excited to do this again. With a little more practice, I think I will become more confident with my skills. I would encourage you to try it! Watercolor is very forgiving – perfection is not expected! And each one will look different as the ink decides what it is going to do!!! I like that!
