I had fun trying to watercolor these two large flowers in a way that looks like the wedding invitation I received. I wonder if the bride will look at it and say, “Wow, this looks just like our invitations!” LOL, I seriously doubt it, but I am certain she’ll know I tried!!
I used the large flower from Birthday Blooms, one in each corner of the card front. I stamped it on Watercolor Paper with Archival Basic Black ink.
The colors I chose to watercolor with were Blushing Bride, Old Olive, and Wild Wasabi, with just a touch of Perfect Plum in the centers to tie in with the Perfect Plum card base. My Aqua Painters were my coloring tools. **And I discovered something new to share with you – I pressed a small acrylic block into the stamp pad and used that to paint from. I found that I got a much brighter color that way over the method of squeezing the pad and painting from the lid. I don’t know why the color was more vibrant, but it made a noticeable difference!
I stamped the sentiments inside and out with stamps from the Rose Wonder set using Perfect Plum ink.
Because I am going to be mailing this card, I opted for Wink of Stella and a little (retired) corner punch to add some flair rather than pearls or rhinestones, which would be my “wedding go-to’s.” I dressed up the envelope flap with some Blushing Bride Paper Stack (2″) and a 1/4″ strip of Perfect Plum. A strip of Tear & Tape right under the fold holds that skinny strip tightly. Multipurpose glue around the edge of the envelope flap works great for the DSP. Make sure you cut both a little larger than you need, then cut away the excess after the glue has dried.

Nice tip regarding the color pad smooshing onto the acrylic block. I love to watercolor so will give this a try. I have always been a fan of this set and your watercoloring is beautiful. I too love to dress up my envelopes. Makes a special card look even more special.
