A Special Birthday Card

Today is a special day and calls for a special card.  My son, Nathan, is turning 36 years old today. Happy Birthday, Nathan!  I can’t believe he is 36 already.  Where did those years go???
When I asked him what he would like for his birthday, he sent me a link to this tool box on Amazon. I love that I can click…and my shopping is done 🙂  But I started thinking about his card and what it would look like.  How about a tool box card?  So I got out my supplies and started to create.  This is what I ended up with, and I’m thinking it is pretty darn cute! ~
It’s a bit of an interactive card, in that he has to pull off the belly band and open the “drawers” to see what is inside.  So here is the progression:
The clip is just there to hold it closed for the photo – not part of the card!  His real tool box is black with two drawers that have silver handle pulls and a lock at the top.
Pull off the belly band and the first “drawer” opens up to reveal some tools (Guy Greetings Photopolymer Stamp Set).
Open the bottom “drawer” to see the birthday greeting, and of course to know who this is from (ha ha-like he couldn’t guess!)
I decorated it a bit with the Balloon Celebration stamp set, retired Cherry on Top DSP, Large Numbers Framelits, and an old wooden element “Celebrate” that I had in my craft drawer. The “lock” on the top “drawer” is a silver sequin.
Have a great celebration, Nathan, and enjoy your day!
Are you interested in making this card?  I know it is a very specialized card and might not be one that everyone will run out and make.  But if you would like the dimensions and instructions, please sign up for my free newsletter.  I will be featuring this card and supply all the instructions in early October.  Simply go to “Contact Me” at the top of this post and fill out the short form.  Where it asks “What interests you” pull down the options and click Newsletter.  I will add you to my list and you will receive my next issue.
Have fun stamping!  And happy first day of fall!
